What are the key elements of the Early Years Learning Framework?

According to the EYLF, infancy is a time of belonging, being, and becoming:

Belonging

Belonging is the foundation of a satisfying existence. Children experience a sense of belonging due to their relationships with their family, community, culture, and environment.

Being

Being entails existing in the present moment. Childhood is a unique period of life, and children require time to simply ‘be’ – to play, attempt new things, and enjoy themselves.

Becoming

Becoming focuses on the learning and development of preschool children. Children begin to develop their sense of self at a young age, which influences the type of adult they will become.

Our Early Years Learning Framework play based, child-centred curriculum

Pre School Program

Our preschool program is for 3-6 year olds

Children’s Choice Chatswood Preschool Program is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education which values the child as capable, strong and resilient, rich with wonder and knowledge. Our preschool program expertly bridges a foundation between early childhood education and the first formal year of school. Within the program literacy and numeracy, experiences are both integrated into the units and taught explicitly. Skill-based learning activities are supported by topics such as spatial awareness, shapes, colours, reading a clock and simple addition.

The specialised delivery of phonics awareness education ensures that our children not only recognise the letters of the alphabet but are also familiar with their sounds and place in words, accelerating their reading and word recognition, a key benefit when commencing school. Interaction is also integral to our program. We make use of information and communications technologies, such as interactive smart boards and iPads, to enhance our children’s learning. The program also considers that children learn best through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing and hearing.

Our Pre-Lit Program

At Children’s Choice Early Learning, PreLit is designed to be adaptable and accessible. It can be delivered by our skilled educators in a whole-class setting or small groups to best meet the needs of each child. The program is structured to be taught three times a week, ensuring consistency and progress in literacy development. We ensure we provide a high-quality literacy program that can be implemented efficiently, and easily incorporated into our early learning curriculum to complement existing educational frameworks.

By combining structured literacy learning with fun and interactive activities, PreLit encourages children to explore the world of language and storytelling, making their transition to reading enjoyable and natural.

At Children’s Choice Early Learning, we are committed to fostering strong foundations for future learning. Through programs like PreLit, we ensure that every child experiences engaging, supportive, and effective pre-literacy education.
